Gaelic Grandeur is our most complete West Cork experience. It is an unhurried, privately hosted journey through the coastline, villages and hidden landscapes stretching from Inchydoney Island in the east to Baltimore in the west.

Bringing together premium eBiking, coastal walking, local food and drink, storytelling and an optional Wild Atlantic swim and heat ritual, each day is personally designed around your interests, abilities and preferred pace.

Created for couples, families and small private groups looking for something more personal than a conventional tour, Gaelic Grandeur has no rigid itinerary and no rushing from one attraction to the next. We take care of the details and allow the day to unfold naturally, stopping when a story catches hold and adapting the route to the weather, the landscape and the people travelling with us.

A personal journey through West Cork

What makes Gaelic Grandeur special is not simply the places you visit, but the connection you make with them.

Throughout the day, we share the stories, folklore, placenames and local knowledge that have shaped our own relationship with West Cork. You will experience the landscape not as a collection of sights, but as a living place filled with memory, character and dúchas.

The route may range from Inchydoney Island and the coastline around Clonakilty in the east to Baltimore and the islands of Roaringwater Bay in the west, taking in places that rarely form part of a conventional West Cork itinerary.

Exploring West Cork by eBike

The eBike part of the day normally either begins or finishes at our eBike hub in Leap, allowing the cycling journey to connect naturally with the other experiences planned for the day. Our premium Riese & Müller eBikes open up a remarkable network of quiet coastal roads, wooded lanes, harbour villages and old bóithríní.

Depending on the chosen starting point, the route is highly flexible and can be shaped in either direction, and we are very happy to take your preferences into account when planning the day. While Leap is our usual start and finish hub, we can just as easily begin in places such as Schull Inchydoney Island, Clonakilty, or Baltimore and travel through a wide stretch of West Cork coastline and this special part of the Wild Atlantic Way. The exact direction and route are guided by the weather, the flow of the day and your interests, allowing us to move naturally between inland villages, coastal roads and harbour landscapes without being tied to a fixed itinerary.

Along the way, we may visit ancient monuments, ruined castles, hidden waterfalls, historic harbours, old placenames and viewpoints well beyond the usual visitor trail.

We stop for excellent local coffee and cake, with plenty of time to enjoy each place rather than simply passing through it.

Clifftops, stories and the Atlantic

At another point in the day, we leave the bikes behind for a coastal walk or heritage experience.

This may include the spectacular clifftops of the Toe Head peninsula, where wildlife, geology, placenames and traditional stories come together to reveal the deeper character of the landscape.

The route and length of the walk are adapted to suit the group. Guests who prefer less walking can choose a gentler heritage, cultural or scenic experience instead.

A generous taste of West Cork

Food and hospitality are central to Gaelic Grandeur.

Lunch is included and selected to suit the route, the season and the group. It may be enjoyed at one of our favourite West Cork restaurants or as a carefully prepared artisan picnic featuring food from local producers.

Drinks with lunch are included, along with coffee and cake during the day and a pint, glass of wine or another drink where it best suits the itinerary.

We can cater for most dietary requirements with advance notice.

A memorable finish beside the Atlantic

The day will often finish beside the sea with an optional Wild Atlantic swim and a guided wood-fired heat ritual in our puball allais.

The heat, sea and quiet coastal setting offer a natural way to slow down at the end of the day. Food and hot drinks are served afterwards, allowing time to relax, change and enjoy the final stories before heading home.

Guests who would prefer not to swim or take part in the heat ritual can choose an additional walk, heritage visit or scenic coastal experience instead.
