We're Celine and Conor Ó Buachalla, a husband and wife duo behind the daily adventures listed on this website that weave together the beauty of West Cork with the rich tapestry of Irish culture and folklore.
Our love story with the outdoors isn't just a passion; it's a way of life. Born from countless treks, swims and cycles across the rugged terrains and beaches of West Cork and evenings spent under starlit skies, Gormú is our dream turned reality—a platform to share the magic of Ireland's natural beauty and its soul-stirring dúchas with adventurers and dreamers alike.
Conor, with his knack for storytelling and an encyclopedic knowledge of the local flora and fauna, brings the landscape to life, narrating tales that echo the ancient whispers of the land.
Celine, on the other hand, with her keen eye for detail and a profound respect for the environment, ensures that every adventure we undertake leaves no trace, preserving the purity of our cherished locales. She can also tell a good story and loves to guide our eBike tours!
Irish language
We are based right on the Wild Atlantic Way in a parish called Gleann Bearcháin ⁊ Míros / Castlehaven & Myross. It's about as far south as you can go in Ireland and it's a stunning location with rolling hills, small beaches and dramatic cliffs. Our part of West Cork was a Breac-Gaeltacht (partly Irish speaking) in living memory and the local dialect of English is still specked with Irish words and phrases. We always attempt to keep the Irish language going as a living language. To that end, we sprinkle a cúpla focail (a couple of words of Irish) into everything from our social media posts to our tours. Don't worry, all our experiences are in English but our guests always comment that our cúpla focail add to the richness of our tours.
