An Capall Ciúin
A Quiet Move Towards More Sustainable Tourism

A new van might not sound like a romantic thing. But for a small eco-adventure business like ours in West Cork, it is a big step.
Our new Ford E-Transit is a working van first. It will carry eBikes, helmets, swim gear, towels, food boxes, signs, tools, wet bags, muddy boots, salty kit and all the other bits and pieces that gather around a Gormú day out.
But it also says something about the road we are on as a business. We have called it An Capall Ciúin, so the quiet horse. We believe that it places us, in our own small West Cork way, at the very vanguard of sustainable tourism.
This did not begin with An Capall Ciúin. Back in 2017, when Celine bought her Hyundai Ioniq, driving electric in Ireland still felt like stepping a bit ahead of the crowd. According to SIMI, only 622 new electric cars were registered in Ireland in 2017. By January 2026 alone, that figure had grown dramatically, with 7,297 new electric cars registered in just one month. So what once felt like a brave early choice is now becoming part of the mainstream.
That matters to us, because Gormú was never meant to be a green logo stuck on top of ordinary tourism. We have been moving in this direction for years: Celine’s early Ioniq, our Riese & Müller eBikes, small-group tours, local food, slower travel, and now a fully electric Ford E-Transit as our main working van. Sustainable tourism, for us, is not about a slogan. It is a set of daily choices.
